Where can I tour Amish farms in MO or IL?

bliss03140 asked the question:

I am trying to plan a long weekend centered around teaching my kids the simple way of life of the Amish. I would love to actually stay on an Amish farm but I am not sure they allow that. I want to find a way to experience the way of life and not just observe it. I am hoping to find somewhere I can drive to in 3 hours or less from St. Louis.
