Is there evidence that paul mccartney died in his albums?

Gir asked the question:

Sometime in 1969, around the time of the release of Abbey Road, a rumor started. It was a rather silly rumor claiming that Paul McCartney was, in fact, dead. He had supposedly died in a car accident sometime before Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was made in 1967. In normal circumstances this rumor would not have gained popularity but a lot of eerie evidence began to pile up. Remember The Beatles had not been on tour since 1966 and Paul spent most of his time on his farm and in the studio. No one, in the States at least, had seen Paul live in public since ‘66. The remaining three Beatles supposedly had left clues on every album since Sgt. Pepper’s to tell the fans the truth. Paul of course had been replaced by a sound alike and a look alike so The Beatles could continue as a group.

He is still alive. Maybe you should re-pharse your question.

Didn’t you just answer your own question?

I’ve never heard that, and I doubt that there is any truth to it. But, what a cool story! That’s pretty interesting. I’ll have to look into it. Thanks for an interesting question! I hope you get some great answers.

This was a huge rumor in the 60’s, just like the one about Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds being about LSD or the one about if you play Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven backwards you hear Plant praising Satan.

This was pre-internet too, so these rumors got circulated the old fashioned way.

That being said, there is certainly no credible evidence on Beatle albums about this, and more than likely they never did anything to promote that rumor, even as a laugh. If you look hard enough, and stretch the limits of the imagination enough, almost anything can mean anything.

Now in looking at your provided link, I see a lot of stuff that is very open to interpretation. But what shot any credibility down in flames was the line “This was all said in an English accent which means it must be true.”

Now I don’t know about you, and no disrespect to the English whatsoever, but anyone can lie, no matter what their accent, so if whoever drew the conclusions about Paul supposedly being dead is dumb enough to think that just because an annoymous rumor-monger had an English accent that it must be accepted as fact, then I don’t believe a word of it.

Either the Beatles were all having a very fun game at our expense, or a bunch of bored nerds with nothing better to do thought it all up.

only thing i ever heard about Paul being dead was at the end of the strawberry field record. if you listen very closely as the record ends they say “Paul is dead. i heard it for myself. it was probably a publicity thing at the time.
